成分を新しく作るのではなく、既に安全性の実績がある麻酔薬に、投与の精度という新しさを足す。守ろうとしているのは薬そのものではなく、量の決め方のほうにある。
承認薬はなく、収入もない。設立時から抱えていたsGC刺激薬の候補は、2023年に主力の2本をTisentoへ売却した。2024年に結んだ残る1本の使用契約も、2025年には解かれている。いま残るのはCYC-126ひとつで、プロポフォールとデクスメデトミジンを、脳波の状態を見ながら一人ずつ量を変えて入れる仕組みだ。
麻酔薬でうつ病を治すという発想は、まだ小規模な報告に支えられているだけだ。候補が一本しかないため、オーストラリアの試験でつまずけば替えが利かない。薬と装置の両方を見る審査になる分、規制の道筋も読みにくい。
2024年8月に就任したRegina Graulのもと、旧パイプラインの整理と新候補への一本化を同時に進めてきた。社員を増やさず外部の専門家を使い分ける、少人数の運びを続けている。
2025年9月に結んだMITとの特許使用契約と、2026年1月のMedsteerとの技術提携が土台になる。2026年後半にオーストラリアで始める第2相の概念実証試験が、次の資金調達の可否を決める。
